For those who are wondering what is Cover all about, the startup depicts its app as being capable to learn when and where you use different apps and places them on your lock screen for comfortable access. It’s more like Google Now features, Cover displays different apps on your lock screen depending on your location. The society takes it learns which apps you use most in each context. So when you’re in the car, maps are shown. At the workplace, your calendar and documents are at your fingertips. You can specify a custom ringer volume and wallpaper for each position.

The cover says that they have no plans to kill the app as the team switches its focus to working at Twitter. That being stated, the startup didn’t rule out changes and formulated it would offer an update accordingly.

“Twitter, like Cover, believes in the unbelievable potential of Android more useful and more contextual”. They said in their blog post.

That isn’t to say Twitter is going to do a one-to-one translation of Cover’s features Twitter has made a bunch of small acquisitions in its history, sometimes for talent, sometimes for tech. Twitter has been willing to experiment with many new features on Android, mostly for the purposes of testing and seeing what people like.

It’s worth noting that Yahoo too, acquired an Android cover-screen startup earlier this year when it purchased Aviate. Which also makes smart and personalized app and content suggestions based on context.

We conclude that the personalized app based on context are heating up in this wearable era.
