VMware Horizon DaaS(Desktop as a Service) Announced

  1. VMware today announced Desktop as a Service (DaaS) cloud offering called “Horizon DaaS”. This will enable  companies to deploy their Virtual Desktop infrastructure in a Private cloud, Public cloud as well as Hybrid cloud (if the company wants to extend their on-premises deployment to the public cloud)
  2. With the launch of VMware Horizon DaaS, customers can combine both the public cloud desktops and private cloud desktops to work seamlessly, says Dave Grant, senior director of product  marketing, Horizon DaaS, VMware.
  3. We can access the corporate Windows Desktop from anywhere on any device, says Grant.
  4. The Desktops can be running on private cloud using Horizon View or can be run on VMware’s Cloud or on Public Cloud’s Data-center which is built using VMware Infrastructure such as vSphere.
  5. Customers can buy capacity in a block and which can be divided into individual desktops with specific RAM, CPU power by IT according to the user requirements.
  6. The Baseline plan which starts from $35 per desktop per month will be able to satisfy  most of the users. If users need more GPU and CPU power, this can be achieved through simple configurations.
  7. VMware Horizon DaaS supports both Windows Server as well as Windows client Desktops.
  8. VMware partners can sell this service and can manage the billings as usual.
  9. Horizon DaaS is immediately available through select channel partners and re-sellers in the U.S and will expand globally later this year.
  10. Recently VMware partnered with Google to encourage Cloud Desktops to the Chromebook users.
