Confirmed: Google acquired Nest Labs for $3.2 billion in cash!

Google has just purchased Nest Labs, the maker of the Nest Learning Thermostat for $3.2 billion in cash. The start-up company quickly grew to more than 130 employees by the end of 2012.

Sundar Pichai, Senior vice president at Google tweeted like below.

Nest Labs is a home automation company headquartered in Palo Alto, California, that designs and manufactures sensor-driven, Wi-Fi-enabled, self-learning, programmable thermostats and smoke detectors.

Larry Page, CEO of Google, said:

Nest will continue to operate under the leadership of Tony Fadell and with its own distinct brand identity. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the receipt of regulatory approvals in the US. It is expected to close in the next few months.
